We have heard your need for building a stronger network of volunteer support, sisterhood and program offerings in your geographic areas. In an effort to address these needs we have redesigned the Area Team support network. We have developed a leadership structure that will engage administrative volunteers in leading, mentoring and facilitating support meetings, programs and trainings. The first leadership positions being launched are:
We have modeled our positions on best practices from our sister councils throughout the country. The position descriptions are linked above, and I invite you to apply for the one that best fits your interest area, expertise, willingness to step into a leadership role, and of course your passion and commitment to providing girls with all the opportunities the Girl Scout Leadership Experience has to offer.
Our staff team will work alongside the Area Team Leadership to provide a more robust experience for all of our girls, families and volunteers. We have designed a yearlong calendar of trainings for Area Team support meetings, with the goal of giving our volunteers hands-on experiences that will translate into working directly with your girls. We will provide you with tools and strategies for parent and family engagement. And we will keep you up-to-date on all the happenings in the movement. Area Team meetings are also a time to build sisterhood within our volunteer network, and therefore we will set aside time for networking and sharing as well.
I am very excited to personally work with the Area Team Leadership to enhance your Girl Scout experience. I know that impactful Girl Scouting for girls depends on you — our volunteers. We want to offer you the training, leadership development, and skill-building you need to have a meaningful experience so that you are empowered and excited to LEAD. Let’s build your inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader) so you can soar along with our girls.
On My Honor,
CEO, Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona
In an effort to make Area Team meetings more accessible and build greater sisterhood across our council, we have made some changes to the Area Team map. Use this handy chart to search for your zip code and confirm which Area Team you belong to.
